US cancels travel warning to Nepal

The United States has cancelled the travel warning to Nepal because of the improved political situations in Himalayan Nation.
 
The US Department of States believes the conditions in Nepal have improved considerably in past years, incidence of political violence has decreased and the political situation is stabilizing. Issuing a press statement on Wednesday, the US Embassy in Kathmandu also expressed delight appreciating the improvement of overall situation in Nepal to the degree of making such decision.
 
The US had imposed travel warning to Nepal on 12 Jan 2011 stating Nepal was unsafe due to unrest. 

 

NYT 2011 promoted in Dublin

Nepali Embassy in London Tuesday organized a program to promote Nepal Tourism Year (2011) campaign in Dublin, Ireland. 

Issuing a press release, the Nepali mission said the newly elected mayor of Dublin Lord Mayor Andrew Montague, senior members of parliament, Ambassador of India to Ireland P S Raghavan along with high level Irish officials attended the program.  

On the occasion, Nepal´s ambassador to the UK and Ireland Dr Suresh C Chalise honored Everest summiteers Michael Murphy, Clare O´Leary, Pat Falvey and Basi Geoghegan and conferred on them the title of the Goodwill Ambassador for the year-long tourism promotional campaign.
 

Visitors to Nepal via air continues to increase

The upward trend of tourist arrivals since January 2011 continues even in sixth month of 2011 showing the rising demand of travel into Nepal.  

According to the figure released by Department of Immigration Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) revealed that tourists arrivals have increased by 37.9 percent to 37,226 in the month of June compared to same month last year.

All reasons have shown the positive growth. The south Asian segment has registered a positive growth of 52.4. India has recorded the growth of 59.3 percent. Also Pakistan and Sri Lanka have increased by 23.1 percent and 46.5 percent. The visitors from china have doubled to 105.6 percent compared to same month last year. Similarly, the arrivals from Japan, Malaysia, South Korea and Thailand have also increased by 18.9 percent, 6.3 percent, 35.9 percent and 2.9 percent respectively. 

An overall positive growth of 10.9 percent has been observed from the European markets with arrivals from major generating markets such as the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Russia up by 11.8 percent, 11.2 percent, 28.6 percent, 34.8 percent, 18.3 percent, 35.3 percent, and 47.3 percent respectively.

During last six month since January 2011 the tourist arrivals to Nepal have increased by 25 percent to 2, 45,363 in aggregate as stated by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). Nepal aims to attract 1 million tourists in year 2011. 

 

Dragon Air to increase its flight to Nepal

With the increase in number of tourist in Nepal Tourism Year 2011 Dragon Air has planned to increase its flight frequency from September. The airline has been flying three times a week at present and now have planned to increase six times a week from September. 

The airline is going to increase the inbound tours to Nepal via Hong Kong using an extensive network of Dragon Air and Cathey Pacafic. “Considering the growing market prospects, we are working out plans to increase our weekly flight frequency to six times a week from September” said Tom Wright, General Manager of Dragon Air for India, Middle East, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal. He said the carrier is committed to supporting Nepal Tourism Year 2011.

 

Air Asia to fly Kuala Lampur-Kathmandu from June

 

Malaysia based budget carrier Air Asia is planning to operate direct flights from Kuala Lampur-Kathmandu from June. It is set to start its operation with two flights a week.

“All the preparation for the operation of flights is in the final stage,” an official of Incentive Tours and Travels (ITT), General Sales Agent (GSA) of Air Asia in Nepal was quoted as saying by Nepal’s daily news publication Republica. According to him, Air Asia has already got the permission to operate up to four flights a week from civil aviation authority of Malaysia. It is yet to complete formalities in Nepal though.

The ITT officials informed to the Republica that the airline is preparing to operate flights from the first week of June. The target passengers of the airline are the migrant workers, tourist as well as Nepali students studying abroad. At present Nepal Airline Corporation (NAC) is operating direct flights to Kuala Lampur six days a week. 


 

 

Tribhuvan International airport to install CUTE system

Tribhuvan International airport the only international airport in Nepal has planned to install Common User Terminal Equipment (CUTE). CUTE offers a latest IT solution for quick check-in and boarding. It provides a common platform for handling multiple airline passengers simultaneously from single check-in position thereby reducing passenger waiting time. The system is scheduled to be installed in June.
 
Tribhuvan International airport General Manager Ratish Chandra Lal Suman said that SITA of France, a company specializing in air transport communications and information technology solutions, has been entrusted to install CUTE.
